In 2018, during a business slowdown, Ron’s landscaping services business took on some merchant cash advances (MCAs) so that he could continue to pay his 40 employees. Shortly after taking the first advance, he began to feel caught in an endless cycle of trying to keep his head above water. It was starting to take a toll on his well-being.
